About Us

We are a small family that loves animals.

About me

Hello, my name is Marina. I'm a marine mammal zoological specialist and the owner of Wild Whisper Maine Coon Cattery. My lifelong passion for animals led me to fall in love with the Maine Coon breed after bringing my first kitten home. Initially, I didn’t know much about genetics, colors, patterns or health , but over time, I became deeply fascinated with genetics and felinology. My main goal is to enhance the breed, carefully selecting pairings to improve specific traits. For example, pairing a mother with large ear tufts but bumpy nose with a father with straight nose can produce a kitten with big ear tufts and straight nose, which then can be kep for future breeding to further refine the breed. I am committed to ethical breeding practices, prioritizing health, pedigree, and most important, personality. All our cats live with us and are deeply loved.

From marine mammals to cats

With over 12 years of experience working with marine mammals—including beluga whales, seals, walruses, sea otters, and dolphins—I’ve developed a deep understanding of animal behavior and the power of positive reinforcement. I’ve learned that patience and empathy are key to successful training, and I’m excited to share how these principles apply to our cats!

Why Positive Reinforcement Matters: In my extensive work with marine mammals, I’ve seen how positive reinforcement fosters trust and encourages desired behaviors. Instead of resorting to punishment, which can lead to fear and confusion, I focus on rewarding behaviors that I want to encourage. This approach has been incredibly effective with marine mammals, and it works just as well with our felines!

  1. Understanding Behavior: it’s crucial to understand why a cat is behaving a certain way. Cats don’t act out to make you angry; their behavior often has a reason that might not be immediately obvious. For instance, a cat might pee in unusual spots due to UTI.
  2. Patience and Consistency: Training marine mammals requires immense patience and consistency—qualities that are equally essential when working with cats. Changes in behavior take time, and consistent positive reinforcement helps guide your cat towards better habits.
  3. Effective Techniques: Use treats, affection, or playtime to reward your cat for positive behavior.
  4. Professional Advice: If you encounter persistent behavioral issues, don’t hesitate to consult a feline behaviorist. I recommend seeking expert advice if needed, as they can provide tailored strategies for your cat’s unique needs.

All of our kittens go to approved homes only.

Cats are not toys or spontaneous gifts—they are full-time family members with unique personalities and needs. Adopting a kitten is a serious commitment, and we want to ensure that each of our babies finds the perfect forever home.

To help us make the best match, we ask that you be patient with our process. We may have several questions for you to ensure that each kitten goes to a home that is truly suited to their individual needs.

Here's how you can help:

  1. Fill Out a Kitten Application: This helps us learn about you, your family, and your living situation. The more details you provide, the better we can match a kitten to your home.
  2. Provide Your Social Media Links: This allows us to get a sense of your lifestyle and how you interact with pets.
  3. Be Patient: We’re in no rush to place our kittens. If an application isn't filled out completely or thoughtfully, we may need to reject it. Our goal is to find the best possible home for each kitten, so your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

We look forward to learning more about you and your family! ❤️

Indoor only

We are committed to the safety and well-being of our kittens, which is why we have a strict policy: indoor-only environments.

We understand the appeal of letting your kitten explore the great outdoors, but for their safety, we do not allow our cats to roam freely outside. Instead, we encourage you to consider these safe alternatives:

  1. Build a Catio: Create a secure outdoor space where your kitten can enjoy the sunshine and watch butterflies without the risks of being hit by a car or being stolen.
  2. Cat-Proof Fencing: Install a cat-proof fence around your backyard to give your kitten a safe space to enjoy the outdoors.
  3. Leash Training: Train your kitten to walk on a leash and take them on safe, supervised adventures.

Your commitment to keeping your kitten safe and happy indoors is crucial. We appreciate your understanding and adherence to these guidelines.
